Am looking to get one of these and was wondering what is the best food for them. In the fish section of this site, the diet is listed as clam. Is that it? Are these fish totally carnivorous of can they eat greens, flakes and algae?

they are picky eaters, so before you buy one make sure its eating. give them a varied diet of meaty foods like clams, mysis, fresh fish, and fresh shrimp

thanks for your responses guys, I have only had flake eating fish untill now and dont really know what im doing as far as feeding meat eaters. Just trying to learn how befor I go and buy the new fish. :thinking:
a few questions.....
When you guys say fresh fish, shrimp and lobstertail, do you mean like supermarket sesfood? which would be fine since I know a store manager of a Stop & Shop (free food????
)
How do you feed frozen brine?
Nictavius, what is a marine mash, how do you makle it and how do you feed it to the fish?
Thanks guys!

You can usually buy frozen brine at any LFS just ask for it.....it usually comes in little cubes or a large frozen block....You just take a little, dissolve it in water, and put it in your tank.....my CBB goes crazy for the stuff.....
Marine Mash:
4 ounces of peeled shrimp (fresh, frozen, canned)
2 ounces of any mollusk (clams, mussels, oysters)
2 ounces of fresh or frozen sea weed/algae (or frozen or canned spinach)
1 packet of gelatin dissolve in 2 ounces of water
1 ounce of liquid multivitamin preparation
I kind of just used this as a guideline.....You take all these things and put them into a blender or food processor...Grind it pretty small if it is just for the CBB....If you have any larger fish that will also eat it then you can grind it into larger chunks.....Then freeze it into cubes or a big chunk whatever you want....
