It wouldn't surprise me. The source I usually use says they are ok with clams but will pick at most anemones, they are famous for eating aptasia. Mine is in a quiet-fish only tank and picks at everything. I wouldn't trust him in a reef. But, there's lots of mixed reports on these guys. Great fish, if you provide the right tank. Lots of room and quiet tankmates.

I got one in my mixed reef. Doen't pick at anything except the rock. There main diet in the wild is clam isn't it?

I didn't look it up; but I think their main diet is marine worms and other small inverts that live in the coral, rock, etc. They just don't seen built to feed on clams, other that an occasional nip. But I could be all wet.
