Dos anyone have and research relating to having coral reduces the stress of the fish in your tank or has anyone found this to be true in there own tank?

Fish just want a place to hide. If there is even a piece of PVC pipe to use they will be okay. Plants, coral, rock and decor...they all have the benefit of easing a fish that's stressed.

I depends on the species...some fish live in coral heads, and they definitely prefer them to other hangouts. That being said, as Flower mentioned, as long as each fish has its own place to go when it feels threatened or is sleeping, there really isn't a lot of difference, IME.
