reef safe in taht it does not eat corals. they are known fish hunters so if you have slow fish or fish who bed down in the rocks then you may end up with dead fish visa the shrimp. some kill some don't its a toss up. it helps to keep them fed regularly but even then you never know. you could try buying a small one as opposed to a larger one and that may help out some.

I have no problem with mine with corals but they are MEAN.They will go after other shrimp and take a swat at slow fish.Once mine die I wont get another.

It all depends on the individual shrimps' personality. I was skeptical about getting one, because I already have two skunk cleaners. I did anyway. He is big, I mean real big, and was scared he might cause damage. But I keep him well fed and there is plenty of rockwork for things to hide. He often hangs out in the back and always wants to be left alone. He might chase my cleaners when they get in his way or bother him. Ive had him for awhile with no problems.

I have a large Coral Banded shrimp and he has never bothered anyone. He lives in the tank with 3 peppermint shrimp and 2 camel shrimp. In fact when my Hippo tang got ick he was the shrimp that was cleaning him off. Personally I love my Coral banded shrimp he is my favorite shrimp in the tank. I guess I just got lucky with the one I got.

so far i have not had a problem with my cbs. i have seen him clean off my coral beauty angel fish. he stays in the live rock mostly. I have two peppermint shrimp and he ignores them. i drop a pellet near him he comes out grabs it and runs back to his favorite spot.
