Coral Beauty attacked Atlantic Blue

I purchased a Coral Beauty and an Atlantic Blue Tang a couple of weeks ago to accompany a Blue Hippo and a Black Volitan. Almost as soon as I introduced them, the Blue Hippo tried to rough up the Atlantic Blue and the Coral Beauty really went after the Atlantic Blue (which the LFS assured me would not happen).
I QT'ed the Atlantic Blue after 2 days when I noticed some abrasions on one side. The LFS assured me that this wasn't supposed to happen and refused to let me return him. I treated him with Melafix but he died after about 5 days in the QT.
Was this a bad marriage from the beginning?

In that small of a tank you shouldnt have tried two blue tangs. Both species of blues are notoriously aggressive, which I find odd for such weak fish species. That is odd about your CB though, mine was aggressive too AFTER he had been established for several months. Also both species of blue tangs as I said are not very hardy and die off easily. Your blue was already established and so defended its territory against a stressed out interloper of the same family. Thats very screwed up about your LFS not taking it back though. Did he say the two tangs would not attack each other or that the CB wouldnt attack the ABT? If he said that about the two blue tangs then do not shop at that store anymore since he is obviously not knowing what he is talking about and/or purposely set you up for failure.

Although its not nessessarily a "small tank", it is small to have to blue tangs in there. to look alike fish develope territoreal behaviors and usually they consider the other fish to be one of them and intruding there territory.
cant believe the lfs didnt take him back:-/ that sucks
