Coral Beauty doesn't seem to be eating.

I bought a coral beauty yesterday, and he doesn't seem to be interested in eating. I make my own food that includes shrimp, scallops, squid, and a bunch of garlic. There is also some blue-green algae in a clip in the qt. Is he just stressed and will come around. Or should I be worried, nothing has ever turned down the homemade food, but he did. He is nipping at algae on the glass in the tank though.

try getting some sea veggies and some sera flake food. my cb devours both. also, get some mysid shrimp. try everything until you can get it to eat something, then work it to the homemade stuff. remember, a cb is mainly an herbivore.

Just when you thought you have done all your research. This may be a very ignorant question, but sea veggies? Is this when I go to my local asian market and get some koi? He is a little timid and shy right now, great color on it though. When I put the homemade food in, it peaked its interest and he was swimming around alot more. But he just looked at it like "what the heck is this".

Yes more fish, this will be about my last one, unless I get a small scooter blenny or clown goby. I'm about maxed now.

My LFS swears by this stuff VP.
Encourage finicky eaters to feast with Entice, an all natural scent and flavor enhancer from Seachem Labs Even the pickiest of fish, like Butterflys and Angelfish, begin to gobble a variety of foods Simply spray Entice on flake, frozen, pellet, and even freeze dried food, then watch as it is eagerly consumed like a gourmet banquet for fish Used by many of the top aquarists in the hobby Ideal for marine and freshwater fish.Simply add to any food item to attract the interest of finicky eaters.
Good for up to 800 feedings.
Size:
1 gallon

This may sound stupid but I went ahead and bought the food that that my LFS was feeding mine while he was there. But then again, mine is a pig, he ate that stuff as well as anything else I put in the tank. If it's only been a day, give him some time. IME these guys are hardy and should start eating soon.
I'm assuming you have other fish in there, is anybody bothering him that you can tell?

sea veggies is a fish store item, it's basically chopped up dry different types of algae. You soak em in water a little to get them softened up and drop em in.

He is in quarantine, all by himself. Maybe he is just getting used to everything.

That will definitely make things easier. Thanks. Now the question becomes, when I get that and it doesn't eat, then I should be worried?

nah, once it's hungry enough it will eat SOMETHING. my CB got lympho before it started eating, so don't worry TOO much--he's thriving in my tank now for 5-6 mo's. Just don't overfeed too much, get out what isn't eaten, and try something till he eats

OK, I bought some mysis shrimp, and forgot I had some brine with seaweed/algae in it. He seemed to pick out only the seaweed/algae, but I really couldn't see it that well. He wouldnt touch the mysis. I wasnt able to find the sea veggies yet. Should I try Nori/Nuri? My LFS is closed on Monday, other than that it was petland and um..petland that I had to choose from today.

Took mine almost a week to begin eating, I wouldn't worry until a week or so. Put some algea rubberbanded to a rock and it may eat at night or when you aren't watching it.

Samething happend to me. When I bought my coral beauty it took forever for it to eat. I even started to worry, but as he accustomed to the tank he now tears everything that I drop into the tank up. You shouldnt worry.

I actually blanched some romaine lettuce and put it in. I will probably get flamed for that, but it was the next best thing. I will keep trying until I get it.
