I was thinking about getting one of these two fish. Which one would you prefer? In my tank I have shrimp, snails, crabs, ect.

Both are excellant choices...and both need a well established system. They like to munch on algaes and cruise thru rock work. A stable mature system would be best ... with good LR. I have a coral beauty myself...never had a flame. They are both beautiful fish that do well in aquariums...best of luck with either.....

Well I just wanna vote for the coral beauty.....mine has proven to be very hardy and I like the colors of it much better than the flame!!! But then again the flame is a true beauty also. Tell us which you decide on....either can be an outstanding addition!!

Flame. Did you think about a Potter's angel? If not, take a look around on the net and you may agree...the Potter's is also beautiful.

I think every angel is unique. Some have flames that pick...mine doesn't. You may get a potters that picks and you may not. No sure thing when it comes to angels.
And yes, angels are very hardy if introduced to an established tank with good water quality.

I've had a flame angel for two weeks now and just put it in my main tank two days ago. Its been a great addition to the tank. I was real skeptical about getting one because of everything I read about them nipping at feather dusters and anemones and taking over the tank, but much to my pleasure the one I have doesn't bother anything or any of the other fish. It's great. :D

I went through this same thing... but decided to go with the flame angel... just ordered it from SWF.com sunday... hope it is what i expect... so my vote goes to the flame angel, but personally i think the coral beauty is much more beautiful, hence the name, but the flame angel is much more eye catching.

Why choose? Get both. They more than likely will get along fine if put in the tank at teh same time. I've done it twice and have had no problems.

Sorry Carrie, didn't see your tank size. No, you couldn't put two, and depending on how many other fish are in that tank, you might be pushing it with just the one.

There are no other fish in the tank, I was just planning on getting one of the angels. My tank is a 26 gallon long, (3 ft). Would it be possible to add both if no other fish are in the tank, or should I just stay with one?

You might. There are some here who would tell you yes, some would say no. I'd be one to lean towards the no, as that might be too little space for them to have their own space, even IF added at teh same time. But you can try it, and if it doesn't work out, take ne bcak to your LFS before it gets too stressed out.

alright I know the answer to this one!
I have both in my tank 90g. I got the coral beauty first then I got the flame then the flame died so the LFS gave me another for free!
thats a whole nother story.
try one first see how it does then the choice is yours
enjoy them they are beautiful
just my opinion

I agree that this is a very tough decision to make. I was debating the same topic about 6 months ago when I was out looking for a dwarf angel. After spending about a month (literally) watching the two different angels at the stores, I sort of developed an attachment to the Coral Beauty...it seems to have more "personality" and acts a little more friendly. This is just my personal observation. Also, the CB may not be as vivid as the flame, but If you look around you can find some that are absolutely beautiful (mine has brilliant yellow/orange sides with neon purple fins). The only reason I mention this is that I have noticed some CB's just don't seem to look as good as others (maybe the location they are caught). Well, that's my opinion - hope it helps.
