Coral Beauty vs Flame

I'm thinking of adding one of these two to my tank, either the Coral Beauty or Flame Angel. Not right now, but sometime in the future. What are some of the differences between the two, other than color?
The other tankmates will be 2 yellow wrasses, bicolor blemmy and then after the angel, 2 gold stripe maroon clowns. 65 gal which will have some corals and mushrooms. So I'd prefer relatively reef safe fish.
Thanks.

If you want reef safe I wouldn't go with these two. A lot of people say it's a 50/50 chance they'll be reef safe. I have a CB angel that's been a menace in my tank for a few months now and I can't get the thing out. It's done alot of damage to some leathers, gorgonians and a hammer coral.

I agree here. There are very mixed experiences with any of the angels in a reef. If you are looking for reef safe you may want to steer clear of angels.

I know that about angels but I'd REALLY like to have one in my tank. I'm willing to take the 50/50 risk. What I was wondering, between these two: flame or coral beauty, is there any significant difference in character? Is one more reef safe than the other?

The flame has a bolder personality IMO than CB's do. The flame is more likely to be all over the tank and active paying more attention to you. They both have an equal risk to the corals though.

I have a Coral Beauty, and he's been doing well with my corals. Quite animated, swimming between the rocks. My blue hippo tries to play 'follow the leader' and gets stuck in some of the smaller places. Don't know if you've looked at the monetary issue between the two, but a flame is usually $20 - $30 more than a CB. If that's not a problem, then a flame does have more vibrant colors over the CB. However, I've heard they tend to pick on corals more than the CB. Like everyone else has said, it's a 50/50 shot.

if i could do it all over, i probably would have gone flame angel. the coral beauty is a nice looking fish, but its so dark it's hard to see it as it swims between the rocks and such.

Thanks everyone. I will go with the flame angel when I am ready to add it to the tank.
So my final list will be 2 yellow wrasses, 1 bi-color blenny, flame angel and 2 yellow stripe maroon clowns. Does that list look ok? I plan to get the maroon clowns at the same time. Will they be ok? I hear maroons don't get along with other clowns very well, but maybe if I add them at the same time, they won't fight.

I said the same thing before I got mine. Now I wish I'd never got him. Just be prepared for the worst case I guess.

I never had a dark CB either. Mine looked like the pic above. Ren, you have mentioned how dark yours is before. Do you have a pic of him?

ive heard w/ the Flame Angel = less chances of it nipping at corals if thats of any concern. But I don't care for the look of the fish, but the CB is really cool looking!
