I just recently got a couple of corals. One is a small kenya tree and the other is a anthia (sp) xenia. These are the first corals i have ever had do i need to feed them anything or are they filter feeders?

treecoral may benifit from plantonic foods but spot feeding is not required at all. xenia mainly photosyntesizes but can consume amm/trite/trate through absorption.

I hear you there, I tried to introduce xenia a bunch of times and all it did was die, for years. then I did a trade with a guy for some zoas and there was xenia on the rock I was pretty sure it was going to die because I had never had any luck with it I went from three stalks to about 15 in 3 months...... its a weed. My GF wants to set an all xenia tank...........

I have heard from the guys at my LFS that xenias are touch and go. Some do well in peoples tanks and some do not in similar tanks. The more I read these threads the more I agree with them. I am by far not an expert reef keeper and these things grow like mad in my tank. Yet some others who have a lot better tank set ups and are more experienced have bad luck. Not sure why..
but it is odd.

I always give it a try once in a while when I take stuff to his house to get rid of stuff that get out of control in my tank.He pulls it out all the time and sells to local pet store. He don't pay for much stuff their and in 2 or 3 days you cant even tell he removed any
It looks good though
