Coral Frags

So I am sure you have all seen posts with members tanks that have the sand bed filled with small frag plugs of coral.
I was wondering why people do this. I think it looks cluttered and unnatural and wonder if it is only to raise and sell frags in the future or what or why a person would do this.
Your thoughts?

the only frags i have in the sand bed are my acans. IMO people put zoas to make a zoa garden??? but i always wonder why to?
1. dont you want the frags to grow? spread?

Yes but in the place that they will be stationed at. In the rocks etc. I am talking about the folds that have large numbers of frag plugs scattered on the sand of multiple types of coral.

I think is is pretty much to raise them and sell them. Personally I want them to attach to a rock and spread there. Although like Nisssan said, the zoa garden is a good idea as well on why some people might do this.

got it. i really dont understand. maybe like you said to raise and sell them. but then if you are doing that why buy them at the first place to win 10 bucks after???? dont get it. thats taking advantage of reef keeping!

Got pictures? I have never seen this.

That is just one example. I am not saying anything bad about the aquarists choice to do this, just wondering about it that is all.

i do it because eventually i want them to grow out where i put them. unfortunately until that happens, most tanks end up looking like a sanford & son episode.

Looks like he ran out of room on the rocks. Happens a lot in a nano. Or just frags from a much larger reef

I put frags there, because there is no place else left to put them.Yes I eventually fine a spot to squeeze them in but it takes a while to find just that right spot...

.Remember this is not a hobby, it is an obsession
