Ok so i bought a coral today from the local LFS and neither he nor i have any idea of what it is. It looks like a dark purple cabbage leather that is flat on the rock but it has floresent green dots on it so i dont think thats what it is. I would get a pic but i dont have a camera and if my roomate has his with him I will try and borrow it to get a pic but if anyone has a pic of something like this or any idea of what it could be that would be awesome.

I guess it could be like the montipora nodosus but im not sure cause i couldnt find a good pick. The purple part of the coral seems to be hard and then the green things that cover it seem to be polyps but also could be like the fingers of an umbrella leather. If you have a pic of some of the montipora nodosus can you please post a pic or two.

I think whats gonna have to happen is im gonna have to borrow my roomates camera and take a pic. The only bad thing is im going on spring break tomorrow and wont be back til the 21st so i dont guess ill really know until then.

Well my advice is next time your at the fish store and you see something you dont know what it is come to this board and post and see what it is and how to take care of it. You may not have the right lighting or know what you have to do to take care of it. You basically bought a species of something that could die in a day lol.
Kinda like that guy on the cell phone camercial who bought the cotton mouth and dont know its deadly lol. "there not really deadly just make you sick"

I don't know, but I'll bump it for ya :) .
Just check next time before buying it. Some species are best just left in the ocean, and a lot of times LFS's try and sell them to you.
Good Luck!
