Most of the water off of california in the pacific is too clod, there are some descent ones near the spanish countries in central america where the water is warmer.

If you ever get a chance check out the great barrier reef in Australia. HI has some good snorkeling also.

Actually off the coast of Santa Barbara County, Refugio State Beach there is a reef. It's not like the Great Barrier Reef, but it is still considered a reef. I've been diving off that coast several times and it's beatiful. A lot of lobster, abalone, leopard sharks, dolphins, sand dollars etc. Channel Island's National Park also has a reef. There's lots of Orange Garibaldi along the kelp beds and reefs. It's pretty cool to dive there, specially on a clear sunny day, you can see approx., 20-25' down into the water. June through mid October is the best time to dive in the aforementioned areas.

Are the reefs in the ocean going to dissapear? As the ice caps melt will this dilute the oceans and lower the salinity? Also will it slow the curents? God I'm board...

More than likely the rise of temperature in the ocean currents would kill them before a polar melt.
All this has happened before, dinosaur farts were very bad for the ozone you know.

A reef can be anything. A coral reef needs corals.
Melting Ice Caps will do alot in theory. Lower salinity. Raise the sea levels over the reefs, change the currents, Disolve more pollutaints from the newly covered land. Change/Raise temps. Maybe cause weather patterns that change the amount of sun light that corals need. Many species may adapt or move/spawn to new areas that are more what they need.
Maybe. ? IDK
