Hello, I just got a red or pink coral from a brother-in law who had it for about a month. My ? is how do you know if it is alive and what kind is it?

It has natural color, so it is alive.

looks like a pink hydnophora. there usually green. im not sure if its alive though, it could be another type of hard coral skeleton that was dyed. does it have any polyp extension?

thanks for the name but what do you mean by polyp extension? I'm new to this.
