The rating say its for a 220 but dont think so need to add another or other. please help

Just a thought - but couldn't you just replace the pump with a similar sized pump? even if you had to swap some of the impeller assy parts over - I'd think you could find a similar "motor" side that would work.

Not that simple Tang.....might pump water, but I'm sure not the same performance as the original pump. A skimmer is built around the pump.

Good skimmers are.... The CSS220 however is also available for purchase, without a pump, in case the user has their own to supply.
yas, the stock CSS220 pump is 500gph, and for the model w/o the pump, Coralife recommends a pump in the 500-750 gph range. 750 might be a bit much, I'd guess ideal is probably 600gph, but go lower rather then higher if you can't find a 600. What you're looking for is a "needlewheel skimmer pump." I think trying for an exchange is a deadend at this point.
Though the obviously answer is just to buy the stock replacement pump, especially if you're unsure about adding another pump yourself. On which note, I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to ask?

No offense!!!! I was just stating skimmer performance will be alter with another pump. Skimmer body sizing is based off of what the pump will do.

+1 Just call the manufacturer, tell them your model number and ask about a pump for it. I bet it won't be more than $20.00, I gave my coralife to someone or I would have sent you the one off of mine. Coralife was taken over by Oceanic I think...but if you google that model of skimmer you will find someone to contact.

You guys making me want to exchange the whole skimmer i guess the CSS is a starter skimmer but fear if i purchase a ASM G series i can only fit a small one because i only have 24 inches of under stand space so would it be a waste of money.

I so understand about skimmer trouble. I have had so many and I hated them all except the Octopus 1000 in sump and now on my 30g I put as Tunz nano in the sump. Those two brands I really like. My HOB coralife collected maybe a 4th cup of skim a month, if I turned it up it flood. I think in sump skimmers are the right choice and HOB is what the real problem was, not really the brand. I also had 24 inches inside my stand, I think thats the norm. The coralife was 25" just a tad too tall and I hate the way you have to screw on the collection cup, if you don't have it lined up just perfect it leaks around the ring.
They do have a section called Ask Saltwaterfish...you can post your thank you there, it may take a day or two but they will get the message.
