Coralife Super Skimmer

Recently I ordered a Coralife Super Skimmer 65 for my 46 gallon tank. The skimmer arrived yesterday, but I'm very disappointed in it. I'm sure it works great, but the pump and the bubble difuser are huge. They wind up being a big eye sore in a smaller tank. Also with the two hang on filters I have, there is not much room to hang the skimmer on the back of the tank. And there was one other thing, the opening from the glass lid at the back of the tank was just a little to small to let the skimmer's pipes go into the water. Just some things to think about if you decide to get one.

mine just arrived yesterday also. yes i thought the pump and the bubble collection box was a little big. i have a 65g and it will be pretty much covered up with live rock when all is said and done. but it is working great. its still in the break in period, but is already skimming pretty darn good.

I'm not going to knock the skimming ability of it, because I have heard nothing but good things about it. It just wasn't feasible to use with my set up.

so its too big! I was going to put one on a 20g long, is this crazy? Alos what kind of glass tops are you using that are too small? Think it will work with allglass versa tops?the cut out plastic on mine is only about 2 inches!

You may have better luck with it than I did, but the size of the pump and the diffuser were too large for my tank. I guess if you had A LOT of live rock you could cover them both up. I would compare the size of the pump and the diffuser to a softball. I think my opening on the back of my tank is about 2" also. I had to turn the skimmer somewhat sideways to make the tubes go into the water. In my opinion, this is skimmer is not made for a smaller tank, but like I said, you may have better luck with it than I did. I think if I modified my lid and modified the return line, I could have made it work, but I still would have had the pump and diffuser being an eye sore in my tank.

Its definitely more expensive but i just got the aqua c remora and love it. Basically all that is in the tank is the maji-jet 1200. Very small behind the tank and inly goes like 6"above the tank but because of how it looks, it doesnt even seem like that much. HIGHLY recommend

My brother is trying to get me to get a seaclone when I send this one back. He says his works great in his 120, but I'm like you and hesitant to get one because of what every one on this forum has said about them. I decided to look them up lastnight and read some reviews. One guy on epinions says that it is a great skimmer for a smaller sized tank. He talked like once you got to the 70 gallon tank size that it wouldn't be as effective, but for smaller ones, it would be perfect. The article was long an in depth and it made since what he was saying. That was just his opinion and you never know who to trust, but look it up and see what you think.

I did some research and the Aqua C Remora would be perfect for my tank. Its a hang on and not too wide and just the small pump would be in the tank. Its a little pricey though, but not much is cheap in this hobby. That is probably the one I'll go for. Thanks for the advice!

I put off getting it for like 3 weeks bc i kept thinking about the coralife and how much cheaper. But i figured the extra $80 was nothing compared to what we spend a year in this hobby. Everyone has said the aqua c is awesome and now that i have it I agree. Very easy and looks great
