They are fairly decent skimmers once dialed in but they are known to overflow for no reason and alot have microbubble problems with them. I ran one for awhile and just finally threw it away. It needed constant adjustment related to the water level. I used mine HOB though. If you were going to run it in a sump I think you would be fine.
