i really want to buy one of these lighting fixtures. So, i called F & S and asked them for the dimensions of the 36" fixture, since i am worried about the width of it, and they told me it is 15" wide... so i measured the width of my 46g bow front, and it is only 12.5" inches wide....
.... does anyone have any ideas on how this fixture could be mounted without using the mounting legs??

i bought a retro kit and made a nice wooden hood and mounted it into that. then i got some old iron chain <for looks> and hung mine from the ceiling . if you do that make sure you find the studs in the ceiling to mount your hanger hooks. My neighbor ...HAHAH hung his straight into the dry wall and brand new lights ended up in his tank....what a dummy..LOL

Have you looked into any of the Aqua Medic fixtures? I personally think they are better fixtures for the money. If you can hang the light from the ceiling then you could go with an Aqua Medic Oceanlight 250w DE. It will cost less than the coralife and comes with much better bulbs. The Aqua Medic's come with Aqualine Busche bulbs which are extremely expensive German made bulbs. The coralife bulbs are not very good.

Aqua Medic burned down on Dec. 26th, I haven't heard any mention of them being back in business. Also, the fire has been ruled an arson. Do a Google on "aqua medic arson".
