Corals and thier lighting

No, but some corals that prefer less light may not tolerate high light levels too much and may bleach or lose some coloration. So the best thing to do in that case is put them at the bottom or in the shade. Nonphotosynthetic corals don't care either way.

Im wondering if low light based corals will die if given high amounts of light?

Yes, they will close up in bright light and not feed. I am talking about coral like the chili, and carnation. Mushroom coral can go in the bottom of the tank and be fine.
