hey everyone
well, im bumbed to say this but my tank hasnt been having the best success with fish, so now instead of adding new fish im starting to add some corals
i was looking at anyother thread and i read that u are able to keep some SPS under PC lighting... if so, can u please let me know on all the SPS u can keep?
also, what would be good corals to start out with. my tank is a 150g DT with a 30 gallon sump/fuge. overskimming by 100 gallons with the Euro-Reef RS250, our fuge holds cheato and pods. also, our lighting is 400 Watts of PC, blue actinic and white.
corals we have already tried and that are doing great
1 Large fragspwan with 5-6 stalks
1 Kenya Tree
1 Devils Hand Leather
1 Hammer with 2 stalks
thanks so much for your help and time
Eric-

u can try monti cap placed at top half of tank. but the only problem i see is u hv kenya tree and devils hand. leathers release toxics into the water which may be harmful to hard corals. running carbon will help a bit.

The only SPS I've heard of surviving under PC lighting for a good amount of time is montipora. I've never tried it myself but I doubt it would hold its color as it would under MH's. Some other corals you may want to try are torch, galaxia, bubble coral or some mushrooms. What I'm wondering is why you're having a hard time keeping fish? What fish have you tried and what happened?

i honestly have no clue about the fish... boy by being in the actual hobby for about a year and 3 months now ( thats when we finished the completion of our tank) we have lost quite a bit.
when we have lost the fish, nothing seems to be going on at all, no signs of Ich or Hille or any other sicknesses such as those. our water paramaters usually read 0s other than nitrate running around 20-0 ppm. which i was told is not bad for a FOWLR ( with the fish we were keeping)
ummm, well we had a queen angel, all seemed well, she was eating great, awesome coleration, had her for about 2 months and all the sudden she started to hide for a day and wouldnt come out and then the next day she was dead. this happened while i was up at college ( my brother was taking care of the tank- and knows what hes doing) umm, we just bought 3 cardinals and 2 of the 3 are dead. no signs of any sickness, just found one dead and cant find the other.
i have tried and tried with fish, and nothing seems to be working, so now im going to be happy with the fish we have had for awhile and that are doing great and just add some corals

In this type of lighting I don't think I would try any sps coral, but most of the lps corals would do great. I have a special love for the fox coral. The green colored ones are beautiful. I have halides and have to keep it somewhat covered (by a large yellow figi leather) to protect it from too much lighting, but a beauty.
