Corals, Frags, and Prices

I love starting new threads and seeing the wealth of information that flows in because I love to learn. I wanted to have a general idea of how much a good price for various frags would cost.
Im not talking about any particular coral, just any you frag and a general price on how much you get per frag.
I still don't have my reef tank but at 15 and almost no cash most of the time it is hard to start a reef and upkeep it, because of school, but with summer comming, I plan on working my butt of thinking of the new awsome reef I'll be starting.
Anyway I wanted to start a list of corals (General, not particular hues or species) and just see so I can get ideas for my stock list and how much I get for the frags.
I want to start this thread so it will be a ready source for info for me when I'm buying at my LFS or selling to others in my community.
(Ill update daily as I think you can only Edit 1c)
Anyway Ill list them here:

you have to be talking "particular corals" in order to get accurate pricing. even ball-park pricing.
one piece of sps, can go for 5 dollars, and another piece that same size, can go for 100 dollars, or more. it depends on color, and how rare it is.
the same goes for zooanthids. one might be able to purchase a large rock covered with plain looking zoos for 10-15 dollars, while you might have to spend 25 dollars for a single polyp of another type.
sad but true.

mr. x is right again. what you should do is look around the web and ur LFS's and make a list of what kind of corals u like. then u can ask what prices they should be

you def. need a better idea of what kind of corals you will be stocking. aquacultured, "collector's" corals, def. carry a higher price tag, but rightfully so....their colors are amazing, they are already adjusted to marine aquarium life, and are great "trade bait" to acquire other rare pieces to add to your collection. Other more common pieces you can get WAY cheaper and you will prob. have a harder time selling and/or trading frags of them....however, bottom line: Get what YOU like the most and then go from there! good luck!

Just to back up needing specific corals,
I bought my first two pieces today
This one i picked up for 100 dollars

He gave me half off on this one because he had four of them and a sort of a package deal with the other one. I picked this up for 30 dollars making it originaly 60 dollars.

The second one is about twice as big as the first.

price is dictaded by the color, rareity, and demand for a coral and its fragablility. since some corals dont frag easily and grow slower will always fetch a higher price than one that self frags like the kenya tree corals.
