ive seen these tight gwoing colonies that almost look like coraline but they are obviously thicker and have a great glow to them but havent found out exactly what they are yet. also, is there what are they corals that look like GSP but are much smaller and blue? ive only seen a couple but they look awesome

Sounds great...I hope the magnets are sealed some how. I think what OP was talking about are zoas, they come in lots of colors...at least that's what they sound like. They spread nice and would look really cool. Getting them started would be the only drawback. Maybe if you place the rock the zoa is on right up to the glass it will spread on up.

It's hard to get corals to start growing on the back wall without gluing them on, except for mushrooms or anemones. I've seen people glue zoos, and lots of SPS, especially Monti Caps on the back wall. They look terrible at first, but as they start to grow they look really neat.
If I remember correctly, you have a fairly small tank, right? You might not have a lot of room for SPS to be glued to the wall.

Actually what the OP was talking about was any type of coral that would grow on the back wall.
I've seen zoas covering overflows (in fact I have AoG colony growing on my overflow), plastic, pvc pipe, etc, but haven't seen them growing on glass. I've had GSP grow onto the glass, but as it gets bigger it tends to sluff off. I've seen pictures of xenia on the back glass, and have it on my overflow as well, but over time it tends to move to the top and die out on the bottom. Many corals will attach to plastic or pvc, IME not much stays attached to glass for very long (Monti caps might be one exception). As one of the previous posters stated gluing pieces of LR and/or the corals (in the case of monticaps) to the glass is the best way to get them started and then let them spread from there.
