Corals With Angels

I was at the LSF yeaterday and I asked the owner (who I have become good friends with) if there were any corals that grew fast enough that I could put them in my tank with my majestic and emperator. He surprised me when he said you can put any corals in there you want. i said don't angels eat corals and he said in the wild no for the most part, they change their diet in captivity and will nip at corals but not to the point where they destroy the coral it's self. So I asked my marine biologist prof at Univ of Hawaii and he said for the most part angel fish have a diet in the wild which is hard to duplicate in captivity sponges pods small crustations etc. however in captivity it is a crap shoot their diets change and who knows what they will do or not do. So what do you all think. I really want to have a reef with angels as the exist in nature can it be done with minimal losses.

I don't know about your angels but my newest additon, flame angel, is constantly picking on my brain. It won't open up and has made me very frustrated. I'm heading to lfs for a clip and algae sheets to try to keep him off the brain. I think it's mainly a hit or miss with these fish. They should all be dealt with caution when it involves corals.

my coral beauty has nipped at my corals a few times but has stopped for the most part. from what i have heard it is luck that determines if they will or will not.

People have also had them go for awhile showing no interest and than bam, start eating things. I mean, all it takes is for them to nibble. Many delicate corals won't handle that well. I would say your LFS guy saw $$$ flash in his eyes. There is a very good risk that they fish will mess with corals enough to bother them.
How many angels do you want and what kind?
