Corralline Algea Help

I desperatly need some corralline algea chips from other tanks to introduce into my own to help 'seed' my rock. I would be willing to pay for the scrapings and what not. If available, leave a post, or email me.

PS...overanalyzer....my rock is in the tank....going to post some pics soon.

I've gone to my lfs and picked up some reef rubble covered with corraline and set it on different areas of my lr where I wanted it to spread. Pointing a powerhead on corraline helps spread the spores also. I've also taken a new toothbrush and lightly rubbed coralline areas to spread spores. HTH

yeah, most polyps and mushrooms come on rock that will usually have some coraline on it. No harm in adding some more mushrooms or polyps, so you might as well do it while seeding your lr.

Thank you all for the input. I did get some rubble from lfs for free, spreaded it around the rock. Does anyone have some tips on anything else?
One lfs in Nashville told me that i didn't have to add anything to seed the tank to begin with. They told me that all i had to do was higher the calcium levels and the calcium will seed the tank itself. This sounded a lil 'fishy' for me...cause my logic would be, i'd have to introduce the some type of corraline to get some. I do not believe i'll get corralline just from calcium. I DO believe that the calcium will help in getting it to grow..ONCE it has been seeded. Any input...(more)..
Thanks...
Tim
PS...again, thanks for the input I have recieved. I will add some shrooms in the tank in a couple of weeks.

I think you are right. You do need to get and keep our calcium up. I keep mine around 450 and all the other water chemistry in balance also. But you need to have some coralline to begin with. Thing is if you have live rock, you probably do have at least some minimal corraline somewhere in there. The rubble pieces are so you can place them around and help it spread faster. I have a huge piece of dead coral that has no corraline and lots of rocks that do. I put a shell that's covered in it on top of the dead coral and toothbrush it everyday and the corralline is alreay starting on the dead coral. If you didn't put some pieces around you'd just be waiting months for it to get going. So, your doing good! Once it gets going good it's spreads quickly over rock and glass.
