Could i get a spotted dragonet?

I have a 90 gallon with about 95 lbs. of live rock in it. I've had the tank up and running for about one year. Tankmates are 2 tru perc clownfish, algae blenny, yellow watchman goby, purple firefish, royal gramma,foxface, lyretail anthias and a two spotted hogfish. (no fuge)

I would not recommend having ANY dragonette in any tank without a FUGE.. My mandarin does absolutely nothing all day but look for PODS...And he can deplete your tank in a relatively short amount of time.. im afraid..

You can get a hang on fuge to breed pods. You have enough mature rock. The problem is that, without a safe haven to breed in, the mandarine will eat them as they hatch. They eat them quickly.

A fuge is a must.
In sump fuge or a HOTB one will work.

I have a little fuge in my sump with about 5 lbs. of live sand and 5 lbs. of live rock. Its just weird because my local fish store has a 55 gallon with about 50 lbs. of live rock and no fuge and there has been in there over 4 years now.

Have you asked about it? Are you sure there isn't a fuge under the tank? Do they add pods? Do they have other fish in the tank?

i agree with the others you need a fuge...mine hunts all day and i seed ny tank with pods twice a year don't know if i really have to but it is just something i do to make me feel better..i have tons that i can see and i am sure that there are plent more that i can't see but these guys eat all day..i even see mine eating after the lights go out...here are a few pics of mine nice and fat

There is nothing in my sump except equipment. I mean i don't know if you consider it a fuge its basically just like a small container looking thing that has 5 lbs. of rubble and 5 lbs. of live sand. I seen bugs in there before not tons but then again there is no light down there so i basically try to see with a flash light.

If you want the fish that bad buy a HOB fuge.

I have had a small manderain for over a year now and It is wonderful. It has beem fine even though I don't have a fuge. He also eats live baby brine shrimp and gos around all day looking for pods.

sry i didn't read that before. I've heard of people making little piles of live rock rubble for breeding using a strawberry container as well btw. if you can stuff more rubble in there the more the better though.

No mandarin. We all want one of those just like you but most of us are responsible enough not to buy one and let it starve to death. I know they are really some of the most beautiful saltwater fish and cheap too! If you do buy a fudge you will have to stock it with pods and let them reproduce for 6 months to a year to have a large enough sustainable population just for that one fish.....and that is only if you don't have any other fish in the tank like wrasses that like to gobble up the pods too.
I would love to have a mandarin in my new 190 gallon but I added a handful for pods and either my wrasses are eating them or they are being killed by the UV that I had to get to keep the ich under control. Lesley

awsome looking fish ! As far as pods go you need a ton of them to keep these guys healthy and happy . I had a dragonet for a while and when ever I would clean up my sump I would shut off and dump the skimmer and it would be full of pods . He would go crazy when I turned it all back on and the pods would get swept out into the tank.
