Could I keep a Powder.....

Well,
I would give it a try but my favorite advice website says otherwise.
Powder Blue's home will also need to have plenty of room to swim around. A 100-gallon tank or larger should be adequate, especially if there is a little algae here and there to nibble on.
I would look for a small one and ask your LPS if you could bring it back if it became too big for credit on another opportunity.
You could essentially cycle the animals in you tank if you:
1. have quality conditions
2. Strike a deal with your LPS - one about 45 mi. from my house actually prefers it's good customers to breed/maintain and return some fish.

personally I'd avoid the PB.....outstanding looking fish granted....but its survival record is terrible....I've seen posts were experienced keepers tend to avoid them...........I do intend to eventually add a small purple to my 55 reef.......and I do keep a yellow in my fo.....lots of folks say not to keep either in a 55....but I do have a good relationship with my trusted LFS....and I will be able to return tangs that become to large for either of my systems.....also our local library(public) has a 220 gal community tank that may wind up getting my yellow tang......I've discussed donateing it to them at some point in the future........
