ok, i posted last week about some clowns I Had that were stressed that I thought might be becuase of my cow fish as I had just found out they could be toxic, and the response I GOt was it was prabably ick that was the problem not the cow fish, so I took the clowns out and put them in my qt but they all died anyway. so then my cow fish died and none had signs of ick that I could see. my lfs said to wait a couple days to put in any more fish into the tank , I Did , the water all tested fine except was a bit salty. so I added some distilled water. tessted again the next day, all was ok, yesterday I added a perfectly healthy trigger fish. he was in a qt tank for 2 months , and today hes dead. not even 24 hours later. but my water was perfect. im wondering now if toxins are still in the water from teh goofy cow fish. how do I get rid of it and make sure my water is ok to add more fish? I now have nothing in the tank but live rock, sand, and one starfish and one shamface crab.
thanks!

if the cow released toxins then that is most likely what killed your trigger.
to remove toxins i would do a couple decent sized (%25-%30) water changes and also add some carbon. A poly filter wouldn't hurt either. that should remove the toxin.
i would also leave your display tank fishless for at least 4 weeks to make sure that the ich is gone.
