He should have gone into a QT, not your tank. There is no way for us to know if he is dying. It is not unusal for fish to experience extreme stress when you first get them. Was it an online order?

Hey why don't you post the problem over in the Aggressive Forum and see what people there say about the fish. They may have more insights as to acclimation behavior, etc. for this particualar fish.

Sounds to me that the fish is stressing
You often have to give time for the fish to acclimate to your tank before it will settle down. Usually a few days help.
I will also agree w/ Beth, where the quaretine tank? what happens if this fish is covered in parasite?
so hows the fish now?

he seems fine i guess. i read online and he changes color depending on his mood. he turned yellow when i fed him. and he is a little more yellow today. i also spoke with ryebread who had one and he said that his lost color when there wasn't a lot of light. all of my tank lights were not on at the time. he is eating which is good. if he is covered in parasites i figured i would put him in the qt. the fish taht i have in there now survived when my whole tank had ick, so i assumed that they are immune. bad assumption? as to posting in the aggressive forum, i thought they were peaceful and not aggressive, according to ***********.com and to my lfs.
