not sure if this is the right place to put this. I have 2 cow fish (tiny ones , about 1.5 inches each) in a 44 gallon aquarium, I also had 4 perculas and 3 small damsels. its a fish only tank as I was told they are not reef safe. and theres a couple crabs.
they have been doing completely fine. I had my water tested a couple days ago at the lfs and all was ok. the tank is about 2.5 months old. one of my perculas got cought by my shamface crab and didnt survive.
my question is, everything was fine until today. fish acting normal etc.... then today I noticed that one of my perculas was wiggling in the sand on the bottom and one was swimming kindof funny because he has a couple ragged fins. they have no other signs of ick or anythingand all the other fish are fine.
now I Just looked online ( we dont need to get into the fact that the lfs store told me the wrong stuff, sometimes they tell me great info and sometimes they dont. but they are supposedly the best of the best in this area and are the most established etc...) and read an article that says cowsifh are poisionous to other tank mates . I was told they were friendly community fish. and ive never seen them pick on any other fish. but now im wondering if somethign stressed them out and they are poisoning my tank.
how do I tell this and what do I do about it. I removed the 2 perculas and put them into the qt tank I Have and hope they live I wonder if I should have qt the cows? so to maybe destress them? but I cant imagine why they would be stressed.
any ideas on what I should do? maybe the clowns were just sick? the third clown I had in there seems fine right now. so do the little damsels. (greem chromis)
thanks for your help.
