cowrie snails

Can you keep a cowrie snail with a dwarf lionfish?
Also, will hermit crabs bother these snails?

Dwarf lionfish will not mind in the least. My dwarf does not even notice my cowry. I love my cowry though. Very active, and very unique. Most people do not know what it is because it is so much different looking than your average snail.
Large hermit crabs might bother him. Just keep an eye on your hermits.

I only have one large hermit. Some folks say they will eat mushrooms, is this true?
Are they good algae eaters? What are they like compared to regular snails?
I don't know much about them but one of our LFS said that they would be neat to add to my tank. Just want to know a bit about them before I get one. I would only get one.

When I had mushrooms in with him, the cowrie never went towards the mushrooms. I have since given the mushrooms to someone though, but he does not touch any of my other corals incluing zoos, bubble coral, caulstrea, finger, xenia, and my hard corals.
They are decent algae eaters. I really do not get much algae at all, so I could not tell you for sure. I will tell you one thing though. He likes to go after the nori I put in my tank for my LMB. He really moves towards it when I put it in there. Today, I was amazed by how fast he got over to it..
All in all, they are very interesting to watch and I am very happy that I bought mine when I did.
