CPR Back Pack Skimmers

So far I am not to impressed with these. Am I doing something wrong? I put a 4.5 refuge on my 55 reef, it has the cpr skimmer all in one. Came with a MaxJet 1200RV for the the pump.
It doesn't seem to be skimming very good. I have the air flow all the way open, there is scum on the top of the water in the fuge, and there was some on the main tank. I moved power heads to help break up flow on top and put back in my little cheap berlin style skimmer and it is working way better then the cpr. Any idea's? I am going to see if the little berlin will fit in my refuge and see if that does anything as I wanted to get it out of site, but the cpr skimmer doesn't seem to be doing it.

After a water change on my 55 gal, my Cpr skimmer cup will fill up in about 6 hrs. After that, about one time a day. Its on the Back of the tank!

I feel CPR BAK-PAK skimmers are top notch.. I got a AquaC Remora yesterday and now running both on the same tank.. I will let you know which wins the skimming war!

My cpr skimmer in the refuge I haven't dumped in days and days, I put in the little berlin skimmer that I had in there before and it is almost full in 2 days.
And that is with both skimmer running.
And there is scum on the top of the water in the refuge...is that normal? I am going to place my little berlin style one in the refuge until I figure out what is going on. That is why I went with the cpr's as I heard they were good. But I am not having much luck with them. And this all in one hob refuge sounded like the ticket to get my tank cleared out a little of equipment.
