CPR Bak Pak Question

I am planning on getting Bak Pak skimmer to put on my 55 gallon because I am sick of messing with my seaclone. How loud is it because the fish tank is in my bedroom? Also should I get the add-ons (bubble trap, pre-skimmer box)? Anyone have opinions on another skimmer I should look at instead?

I've got the CPR Backpack 2R skimmer and its not loud at all. The tank is in the room next to my bedroom and I can't hear it with both doors open. Hope this helps.
Oh yeah, I'm not using the additional bubbletrap and pre-filter box. The skimmer put out quite a few micro-bubbles for the first 3-4 days, then stopped. The only time I get bubbles now is when I feed frozed formula one cubes, bubbles like crazy for a few hours afterwards.

I on the other hand think that this is a noisy skimmer. I have run the 2r on my tank for about a year now, and I can tell you that it is not loud, BUT . . . i notice when it goes off. You get used to it, and actually, I kinda like the noise . . . it helps me sleep.

P.S. Get the combo box . . . . it is a fantastic addition. keeps the surface free of film, and prevents bubbles from entering the tank.

I don't know. I think the BakPak is a good skimmer. I do not, however, think it is adequate for a 55g. I have one on my 60g, and I really don't think it does enough. I think for a smaller tank, say 30g, it is great. But IMO, it is not powerful enough for a 55g-60g.

Yeah I have heard the same thing from a few people. I'm looking at the Remora pro now. I don't have a sump so I need a powerful HOB skimmer. Any opinons on the Remora Pro?

i agree with Buzz. i have had a bak pak now on my 46 bow for about 8 months, and I am not overly impressed with its performance. i have a euro reef that i am in the process of replacing it with right now. it's not really that loud, but if you don't buy the bubble trap with it, you will begin too hate it very quickly. Aqua-C is a much better HOT skimmer.

I had problems as well at the start but i upped my water lvl in the tank and its keeping up with my mag 7 just takes a little work and adjustments.
