hey guys. ive had my cs90 for a while. Had it working great and silent. Was about to go on a trip and got a little worried so was going to adjust it and move it, but ended up moving it back. Now it sounds like water pouring down a drain. Didnt do it before.
Its not gurgling, just a constant hollow drain noise. What can i do to stop this?
Any ideas?
It does it with/without the pre filter sponge. Tried moving the airtube up/down as well.
thanks

I attached this to the drain bulkhead. You have to drill a small hole in top of the cap. You have to use small pieces of PVC to attach the elbow and the cap. Use 3/4 inch PVC as I dont think if you use 1" that it will fit. It sure helped quiet mine down.

you put the pieces together and take the strainer out of the bulkhead that is located in the part of the overflow that is behind your tank. This goes where the strainer is at.

Dan,
Msb gave you a good diagram but if it's not working let me know...email me. I had to do the exact same thing (the device is called a standpipe) and it works GREAT! so quiet!
2 tips:
A. Because my overflow box was so narrow, the standpipe wouldn't fit because with the elbow and the coupling, it was too wide....so instead of the lower piece of pvc on the pipe, I had to use vinyl tubing so that it would bend to one side in the overflow box, so that the elbow would fit too.
B. instead of drilling a hole in the top of the cap.....because sometimes my flow rate changes slightly and the water level in the o. box changes with it, and if it gets too low it starts making the sucking noise as it goes up into the elbow. SO because that happens every now and then I didn't want to be stuck with that cap on the top glued down.....I left my top cap un-glued so I can tighten it or loosen it as needed. Only have to do that maybe once a month.
Sorry for the long explanation!
