Thanks to the help from the pros here at SWF, I was able to catch my hitchhiker crab. It's sort of pretty. Does anyone know what it is and do you think I can put it in my FOWLR tank?

that's a xanthid. problem with keeping it in a fowlr is if a fish sleeps in the rock, it could attack it.
if you keep it, just keep it fed, or put it in your (or my) sump

i cant positively ID it for you but fish only it may be ok depending on how big it gets, could start catching ur fish or attacking them at night. pointy claws like that are a definate no no for reef tanks.

A lot of my fish sleep wedged between the rocks at night, so I don't think I'll put it in.
Who wants a free crab?

It's pretty large so it might make it. Let me know if you want to try it. Shipping will probably be around $10 for Priority Mail.
I would keep it, but my fuge isn't finished yet. I'm still working on it and I need to order the LS.

how big is it? you're making me nervous for my existing crabs LOL.
my biggest crab is a 3" gorilla (and trust me... you want to get gorillas out before they get as big as mine is), but i have a small teddy bear about 1.5".
PM me your paypal info

Hey, I'm glad the little guy arrived safely.

I thought it might. After all, it made the trip from the ocean to the store in a rock with pretty much no water, then from the store to my house. I figured it'd be ok in a bag of water for 2 days.
