I just added some frogspawn about 3 days ago and noticed it was drooping a bit. There were two blue leg hermit crabs on the stalk that seemed to be munching away.
I then noticed a nickel size hole on the back of the stalk that the crab was sitting in!
I do not know if the hole was there already (I hope so). I have heard of things eating the polyps but is it possible the crab ate a hole in the stalk?? I may have been just eating algea of the stalk but I want to be sure...

I have heard lots of bad things about blue legged hermits. Most people tend to stick with the red leg scarlet hermits.

And just to chime in, the Baha Red Leg hermit, which is different from the Scarlet Reef Hermit, can also be troublesome based on what I heard.

The blue legs could be eating the coral. I've had good and bad experiences with those hermits. The first time I tried them they started eating my colt coral so I got rid of them. I finally decided to try them one more time and have had a few in my tank for about a month and they haven't hurt anything.
