45G w/ 5 red Hermits and 5 Turbo snails. The Hermits spend 99% of thier time on my LR, and the snails spend 90% on the LR and 9% on the glass. I thought these guys were suposed to spend time on the LS also and keep it clean of my newfound brown alge? Any sugestions or did I just buy the wrong cleaners?

Some of my hermits will go on the sand but not often. Try some fighting conchs to clean the sand bed they do a good job and are very intresting. Also a sand sifting star works OK also.

I got a turkey baster (see "starter fish" post) and will blow stuff from my lr onto my substrate. This "redirects" them. I would say my hermit crabs, emerald crab and snails spend 75% of their time on the substrate.
