so today as an early b-day present my parents took me to the LFS to get a coral beauty. but when i bought it the lady said she would not give me a guarentee because it would kill my other fish ( 2 perc. clowns 3/4 inch long, coral beauty is 1 1/2 inches long.... will this be a problem??) and eat my coral. but everywhere that i have reaserched this fish said it would be reef safe ... does anyone else have a coral beauty in a reef?

Well it could eat your coral. Some do, some dont. Some also can be agressive. It just depends.

For what it's worth, when I had mine it didnt even notice the other fish in the tank. It just swam in and out of the rocks all day. It was about 6 -7 months old

I had a coral beauty as well. Very passive fish. Mine didnt pick on corals, but I was just lucky. Some will and some wont.... I dont think he'll pick on your other fish at all though =c)

i havae never heard of a coral beuty that was agressive to other fish. they have one in the big reef at my LFS and it picks on things osemtimes, but it doesnt destroy it. however there is a flowerpot that is pretty much dead. The clown also helps....and well..... it is a flowerpot.....

I have one in my 90 and hes been in there for quite some time. While I could not gaurentee that yours won't be a problem in your tank, I can tell you that mine has never bothered any of my corals, mated pair of clownfish, or Tang, he has also lived with a 6 line wrasse and purple firefish with out any known inccident. So in my experience the one I have (which came from this site) has been a model citizen.
Having been in this hobby quite some time I can also state that I have heard more than one problem with some nipping at corals, I also know that there are some fish that you should not keep together or there will be some problems, so perhaps there are some cases where some folks didn't look up the compatibility between coral beauties and what they already had in there tank.

i think the LFS was just looking out for you( thats a nice change). CB are not 100% reef safe. its hit and miss. the store IMO was just leaning twards the safest bet which is to be commended for a LFS.
as for the flowerpot stand clear. they have a VERY VERY poor aquarium survival rate.. IF you do get one check to see if it is alveopora or goniopora. on alveopora you will find 12 tenticals per polyps. on goniopora you will find 24. BOTH are very hard to care for but if you insist on getting one try to get the alveopora which is the better choice of the two.
bother are sold commonly under the trade name "flowerpot"

My CB is alittle aggressive toward new fish, but just for a short time, she doesn't bother my corals at all.
