i'm sorry about jumping around. i took my yellow to the lfs guy and he said it looked like it had been attacked by my damsel, the fins had been bitten and there was some bruising on the body. my cream angel died shortly after, i didn't treat it for ich, the cleaner shrimps had kept him pretty clean. i've since got rid of the damsel. at this point i don't whether my tank is cataminated with ich or not. i know there is no fish in it now just 2 cleaner shrimp, what do you think.

The life cycle of ich is 29 days i think...but not sure. for ich to reproduce it needs to have a period of time in a hosts body so if u dont introduce new fish in to ur tank for say at least 40 days u know that u are ich free.

If your angel did have ich, then yes, your tank is infected. Leave it fishless for 5-6 weeks to be safe. This will allow the parasite to die off for lack of a host. Once this time has passed, add a couple small hardy fish. Stay away from angels until your tank is very well established and you have some more experience. They are not good fish for new hobbyists. If you jump the gun and add fish before this time has passed, you'll simply contaminate them as well and then you're back to square one. While waiting, do some research on what you might want to keep in the tank. Ask around for opinions and experience.

Sorry to hear that he got beat up. You did the right thing by returning the fish.
