OK I'm most likely going to be upgrading to a 90G from my current 29G tank. I have a friend who is very handy with tools who has committed to building my stand and canopy but I have a few questions on how to install the lights. Here goes.
1: Do you install the reflector directly to the wood top on the canopy I read a thread of using some type of spacer. If a spacer is used what type of material do people prefer.
2: What fasteners do you use to attach the lights and reflectors the kits I looked at had none so I am wondering what screws would be best taking rust and corrosion into account. In other words what type of screws should I use?
3. I was told by LFS that HQI bulbs produce UV and therefore need a glass top but that standard glass bulbs do not because the glass casing blocks all UV . IS this true and has anyone ever done studies for Metal Halides to see if they create a UV problems. I have small children who often stare in the tanks and I don't want to create a health risk.
