Creeper in the tank!!!

So i have this little guy in my tank. I thought it was a barnacle. I think i am wrong.
Its about an inch long, 1/2 inch wide. Its a clam type thing. smooth, grey shell. It's has little "feather teeth" around the mouth of the clam, Kind of grayish-purple in color.
It latches on to things, mostly the back wall of my cardiff, or the underside of rocks, usually in the dark.
The other day i re-aquascaped and I found him. I removed him to not to squish him and i replaced him after. HE MOVED. like fast. which is why i am curious now. He moves sort of creepy like. This little tongue thing comes out, and it reaches up from where it's latched and then... QUICK! It kind of "snaps" up the wall/rock. I am going to try to get a picture for you all.
I don't think it's a bad kind of creature. I just want to know what it is...I am super curious. I know he was a hitcher... and i am sure it's just a filter feeder.
Please advice.
Thanks,
Rae

Thanks for the replies guys! It is a clam, I think :) I am not sure but I feel like it has a tongue like thing like the YouTube video that spanko posted. :) as long as no one feels it's bad, then I think it's cool. :)
