im gonna get rid of my eclipse 12 so i can have corals and a glass tank. i plan to get a nanocube from a site that customizes them. no link cause i cant do that ;)
anyways, how does the lighting look on this? i plan to add my own moonlights, and do the protein skim mod myself
004 Nanocustoms Modded JBJ 12DX 3.24
- Bulb Type 50/50
- Additional T-5 none
- Ballast Option Nanocustoms Modded JBJ 72w Ballast
- AC Adapter Variable Speed AC
- Moonlight Option none
- second bulb JBJ 7100K Blue

is that too much blue lighting? or will i be ok?
the price of this is $261.00 shipped

That price seems quite steep. A regular Nano Cube can be had for under $100, and those mods would cost you $50 at most and a few hours to DIY.

I have the beefed up version of that cube...and yes, if you know how to do DIY's then the price is certainly steep...but for people like me who do NOT know how to do any DIY, I love it. My cube is running 126 watts and never in a 100 years would I have figured out how to do it myself.

you should buy the tank and then put a 70 watt halide on the tank. That is what i am planning on and have seen many guys with this done, then you can do any aray of corals you want. just a thought. you can build a 70 watt metal halide for less than a hundred dollars, and it takes almost no brain power.

The guy who actually owns that site...Chris--he is the one who is testing a 70w nanocube setup. He sells the DIY kit on his site for 70w MH but keep in mind, it is still in testing. Last I spoke with him, there were heating issues so just be wary of that.

I have a 12DX with the 48W lights. So far so good. Stays at a constant 78.
I like the nano customs setups.
BUT you may be able to buy the tank cheaper on a very popular auction site(like me) and the upgrade your hood though them.
It would probally be a bit less.
