I just was looking at my tank, after the lights have been off, and I found this "wormlike" at best 1/8 " white/gray worm?? trying to swim the current from one of my powerheads..I first I thought it was a pc of fish poop, cause thats the exact size and shape of the thing, but then it started "swimming" by spiraling its body, like a screw turning, it was amazing to watch, it would swim a bit regular, then go into this spiral swim...Anyone know what this could be??
Thanks All

Hello susie. About a month ago I crept up to my tank and found the same surprise. The difference was that there were about 15 of them swimming around the water. It was the most incredible site I've seen in my reef tank. I posted the same question when I first spotted them and even checked around online but wasn't able to get any answers or id's. I did find an increase in snails in my tank a few weeks later but I'm not sure if there's a connection. Hopefully someone out there can let us know.

hello. well i'm going to take a stab in the dark so to speak. probly a type of bristle worm. the good ones. when i brought home some empty shells to add to the tank, some shells had worm like things swimming out of them. they swam exactly like you described. as soon as they landed on the sand they burried in with no problem. my gues is they go for a swim at night.lol. not sure if i'm on target here but that (might) be what they are.HTH :D
