Critters in Sump?

Never heard of doing that, were did you get the idea, and why would you do that? Makes no sence to me. Good Luck

I have heard of it and yes they do live!! Mnay people put teddy bear crabs in their sump's because they dont want them to eat their hard corals. You get alot of crabs form the live rock you purchase at your lfs. I even knoe of a guy that comes into our store that got mad at his mineotis(sp) grouper and stuck him down there and he is still alive and kicking, i dont suggest doing it with fish but critters will live i believe... pls someone correect me if i am wrong.

I have heard of people putting live sand, or live rock in the sump. Don't see anything wrong with it. Even heard of people putting in snails to rid the sump of some alge.

I have one nasty bad ass hermit crab that has been in my sump now for about 3-4 months. It has greenish legs and one dark brown claw - not a blue leg or scarlet reef -so I placed him in the sump - he eats detritus.
My LFS has hermits in all of his sumps.
