Crocea Clams

I saved another 3 and still have the two left over from the last batch. The top one I have had for like 6 months and is by far the largest. At least 3.5 inches. The more "solid green" one behind that one has been around for 4 months and the other three are new. As you can tell by looking at them, one or two were getting PUMBLED by hermit crabs, so I wouldn't be able to ship them right away. The white spots on the mantles are just sand, but they have been doing well and are attached after nearly 3 weeks now.
Each one is 40 dollars and then whatever shipping is VIA USPS from 80920 to you (usually runs about 30-35). I will supply the pure-ox, the container and box and so forth as long as people provide them with good homes. The only things that I ask is that you have halides and you don't put them in with hermit crabs of any sort.
PM me or email me a crecf @ yahoo . com if you are interested.

Also if you have some Florida Rics you might want to trade, I may consider that. I am posting another 30 or so Maximas tomorrow as well. Just funny cause they are running out of rock in the QT rearing tanks and starting to stick to the glass, LOL.
For anyone who doesn't know, I breed Maximas and Squamosas but I do NOT breed Croceas as of yet (I am hoping too, but it still takes up to a year before the young are usually sellable).

its actually quite hard but the basic overveiw of clam breeding is one clam sends out the "fertalizer" and the other the "eggs" they mix and they grow.......you gotta have one HAPPY clam for that too happen

What color is the first one? I can't tell from the pic. Is it all green?
The first one is a blueish-green. Like the inside brim is more blue and it gets greener as it goes outwards.

One clam will usually release both sperm and egg. After they start releasing sperm gambetes into the water, I remove them and place them in a bucket labeled for THAT clam and then write "sperm" on the bucket. Once they go through several hard contractions, I put them back in the breeding tank until they start producing eggs. Then I label a WHOLE nother' bucket "eggs" for that clam and have to do the same thing for about 15-16 clams and have 32 different buckets set up. Then I can't cross-breed them with their own sperm and eggs. There's about 10,000 more things that can go wrong though.

There are itty-bitty squamosas around, but not that many. Since I usually don't have that big of a demand for them, I only breed them like once or twice a year maybe. I want to add another color like reddish in the batch of broadstock and then I might start doing it more. I dunno', I think they are cool looking and they are super hardy along with the range of lighting they can go under.

Very beautiful. I would love one, but I have a pyrimid snail investation, so no clams for me. I can barely keep turbo snails.

Well when you get your tank straightened out, just let me know. No worries with any of these clams and parasites.

Here are some updated pics. They are doing much better and most of the missing chunks have regrown, which is pretty quick. I like the 2nd one down. That thing is just shiney emerald colored with DARK purple and the middle is just REALLY emerald colored.
I still have the largest one that is the first one of the top set. I like that one too. The last one down (in the top pics, the first set), still looks pretty much the same; so I didn't take another pic. It just BURROWS so fast that I need to get some rock under it.

It's really about the clam. The ones that are posted need metal halides. They feed off of several chemicals in a tank - but the water quality still has to be decent. I continually feed them regardless of how big they get. I don't spot feed them, I just let them filter feed and shut off the filtration. A combination of Tahitian Reef Blend and Coral Frenzy (mixed with Cyclop-Eeze) is what I feed.
