I have a 35 gal. fish only tank. In it I have the following fish:
1- blue damsel
1- chalk basslet
1- firefish
1- striped cardinal
3- blue/green chromis
12-hermits
8- cerith snails
3- mexican turbos
I keep hearing the 1 inch for 5 gal. rule. Right now I have about 11 or 12 inches of fish so thats about 1 inch for 3 gal. and most of the fish I think are close to full grown. Is that rule for larger fish or for anything. For awhile I had only 3 fish and they hid alot and didn't get along and it was kind of a boring tank. Now none of them fight or hide very much and it's alot more fun to watch. What is the reason for the 1 in 5 rule? Is it overcrowding or is water harder to keep right? And does it depend some on the amount of cleaners you have? Thanks for any input.
