Crushed Coral

I have anywhere from 1-4 inches of crushed coral on the bottom of my tank. I added a bunch for my jawfish that got eaten. I was just wandering what are the pros and cons of deep substrate? Furthermore, When algea builds up I stir up the substrate so it looks nice again. The tank gets all cloudy for about a half hour. Should I not be doing this? Thanks for the help.

I usually do the same thing as far as stirring it, but only like very third water change and then I put my fish in the QT to do this as it takes longer and is more stressful.

Out of curiosity, what ate your jawfish?!

I had one eaten by a lunare wrasse and another eaten by a bursa trigger.

lunare wrasses can be mean, even though they look kinda innocent. The trigger probly thought the jawfish was an afternoon snack: howd they get in the same tank?
