I have a 46 gal reef. Are cucumbers truly beneficial? Maybe looking for a small one for my tank? Any thoughts?

just got ours a few days ago,his name is larry, he's all over the tank..i think he's doing a great job so far...ugly as sin though he looks like poo haha
