cucumbers + reef

I don't kow anything about cucumbers and reef tanks. I always assumed that they didn't go together (no reason, just did), but I see that a few reefers have mentioned having them. Which species are 'good' for a reef tank and which should one avoid? I also only have a 55 gal, so I would need one that would be compatible with a tank of this size (the only ones I've seen diving in Oki were friggin HUGE, about 1-2 feet in length) and not outgrow the tank. Thanks for the help :D .

i have a yellow cucumber in my tank. well, let me take that back, i have 2. the one i bought split (reproduced). I have a 55gal, too. when i purchased him, he was an inch long. they are filter feeders. from what i know, some can get big and if im not mistaken all can release toxins when killed. my fish pretty much leave mine alone. now my cleaner shrimp, hes all over everything, but he just cleans them so i don't worry too much.
good luck!

tiger tails are good sand cleaners, and stay fairly small and in the sand bed. ive also tried a few pink hot dog cucumbers, and they are pretty cool also and mainly hang in the sand bed and lay around.

I've got a pink belly cucumber in my reef. He eats all the brown ugly sand and craps out clean sand. He doesn't bother anyone and no one bothers him. He was about an inch when I got him...he's about 3-4 inches now.

My fiance just bought me a tiger tail for my tank.
But I haven't seen it since it was acclimated and placed in the tank.
Do these buggers sit on the sand bed or borrow into it/under rocks?
I guess me real concern is that the thing is gonna die and my tank is going to experience "cuke nuke" as this website so eloquently puts it.

It also references "sand poop". :)
