i have been told by a couple of fish stores that culerpa is very handy in saltwater fish tanks. ive been told that by having culerpa in my tank it will help in algae controll by robbing the nutrients that algae thrives on. is this true. and/or do you know if it is good to keep in a tank, any other advantages to culerpa?

In my case it has worked miracles to cut down on nuisance algae. I am not sure about having it in the main tank - if you have tangs it probably won't last long. I keep mine in the refugium so I always have a constant supply for my tangs.

I agree caulerpa is a great nutrient exporter and give time starve out hair algae. Don't put it in your main tank. Put it in an algae scrubber or refugium. And you have to prune it back every couple of weeks.

Many people have used the methods mentioned above and I have heard claims of people keeping a nuisance algae free tank for years with a proper setup.
