culture copepods in freshwater?

I have read copepods are the most salt tolerant critter on the planet and there are freshwater inhabitants. That being said, does anyone have any experience or thoughts about culturing them in an established freshwater tank and then acclimating them into the saltwater tank?
looking for easy culturing methods (preferably with current setups) to keep my mandarin and pipefish fat and happy!

Running a fuge is the best way to keep them populated. I've seen people do it in regular jars of saltwater though...
