Being a teenager, I have had acne everywhere for the past few years. Ive tried everything from proavtiv, to toothpaste to many other things. Does anybody out there know a cure for acne that has worked for them?

Unfortunatly your age isnt going to help you, and IMO the only thing that is going to work for you is perscription medicine. Retin-A or Accutane, when I was a teen I went on the later, its a very powerful medicine but it works very well. Retin-A is topical and although it works long term IMO Accutane is the ultimate acne medicine. Im not a doctor, so there may be new advances. HTH

as bad as it sounds, i used to go tanning. worked best for me! and stay away from cheeses and peanuts - they are the only foods proven to cause acne. wash your face in the morning with a mild soap and again at night and in the summer i used to carry those wipes with me when i felt i was getting oily.
there is no miracle cure, just learn your skin and what you can do to prevent it

Get your parent/s to take you to a dermatologist. You need to ask a doctor. IT can become a serious problem and you need to seeka doctors help, not on a forum. For instance, tanning was suggested and exposure to the sun can be one of the worst things for acne.
Go to a doctor. If your parents say they cannot afford it point out to them that this is something that should be taken seriously as it can scar you for life in more ways than one. Maybe they will let you work it off or something.
Do keep your face clean 2-3 times a day. Do not pick or squeeze. That will cause scars that will not go away.

People are misinformed when it comes to acne. certain foods do not cause acne, it is actually caused by hormonal spikes, which would explain why most teenagers suffer from it.
i as an adult suffer from acne, and like you, have tried everything under the sun from proactive to clearasil, to dry ammonia from a dermatologist, i even tried, toothpaste and earwax.
what seems to work for me is tanning, swimming pools, and birth control.
hopefully, atleast one of these suggestions will work for you.

I had acne too when I was a teenager (I don't know people who didn't). I'm 20, so sort of a teen, but I don't get it anymore for some reason. Just make sure you don't touch your face a lot, because germs from your hands get on it, and use hot water before using acne cream, then use cold when you rinse it off.
But I second the motion to see a dermatologist, I hear they get painful.

I had acne too when I was 13 or 14. Mostly on my jaw/cheeks from holding my head up during school all day. Hit 15/16 started growing a beard/mustache, all better.

Really the only thing to get over acne is time. Hit puberty and either you get over it or you don't. I don't know about "go tanning"
but nothing seemed to help me more then a nice weekend at the beach. After a good day on the surf, my skin was a lot better.

All through growing up I worried about scars from acne. Now as an adult I have tons of scars from fighting. The acne scars would be unoticable compared to my ugly mug today.
Its all part of growing up. Many teens completley over react about a few pimples. Keep your hands off your face, and spend some actual attention to maintaining clean skin and you shouldn't have difficulty.
Oxy just in the morning or any other once per day treatment usually doesnt work. Keep some wipes on you. Start focusing on what works as opposed to what doesnt. Each person's regiment is different.

Also try soaps without oils in them.I use irish spring cause of the samething when I was younger.I have naturally oily skin so no need for the oils in my soap.

Agree, my wife's sister did the accutane treatment at 18, its pretty serious stuff but it works wonders. It does have to be prescibed by a Doc., and it is somewhat expensive out of pocket.

For mild acne frequent cleansing and an antibiotic like minocin can be effective. For serious cases, the previous recommendations of Accutane/Retin-A are right on. If you are female you will have to sign a form promising not to become pregnant (these medicines are powerful teratogens, meaning that they can wreak havoc with a developing fetus) while you are taking the drug. Some women report that birth control

help, too. Do take this seriously since acne can produce physical scars for life, and can affect a teenager's adolescent development.

just be REALLY REALLY careful with Accutane. my brother was on it when he was younger and it messed with his head pretty bad (depression). keep very on top of it and follow your doctor's instructions WORD FOR WORD! keep up with the check ups and buy a bulk supply of chapstick now - it dried my brother's lips out pretty bad! good luck!

something no one has said yet that most dont even think of is to make sure when you sleep try to sleep on your back if you cant then make sure your pillow case is clean and try to get a washable pillow and wash it when you wash your sheets or replace it every few months like a toothbrush. dead skin cells build up inside and things (not sure what they're called) eat them.

Ya I have heard some REALLY bad stories about it.
I am 15 have had acne for not even a yr and really all the helps is washing your face 2 times a day not poping them not rubbing them and laying out in the sun. The best thing is to just keep up woth what your doing and not quit after a week cause its not working. It takes alot of time. And DO NOT let it get HORRIBLE cause my brother did and had it REALLY bad on his back and now hes got scars left and right.
